an unusual earthquake

Earthquake in west coast of the US like California state is usual, but earthquake in East coast is rare.

Today was a pretty day. The weather was not warm and not humid outside. Nobody might think that the earthquake would happen in here(NY).

In the afternoon, I was leaning myself on bed for a rest. Afterward, i felt unusual shaking on bed while i was resting. Meanwhile, i could hear a weird sound crackling from the woody wall, it sounded like wood clashing to another wood.

In that moment, i didn't believe what i felt. The weird feeling was out of my expectation or interpretation. The building swayed was not coming from like building renovation, someone jumping/running on upper flood, something dropping from upstairs, and I thought that might be our building was unstable? because this building is quite old, ..etc

However, it was shaking quite a long time. I started to doubt of it.

So I jumped up from bed, and ran to the dining room where my uncle he also felt the same feeling like me, the whole structure was moving and trembling. We were quite nervous and panic.

By time and without any further thinking, we took important things that were belonging to ourselves like wallet and key and then running out from the building.

I saw a lot of peoples who were experienced like me, many people were standing outside the building. They grouped together and consoled each others. On the other hands, some peoples were watching each others and shown a face with weird but stunned. However, still have some people didn't feel the shaking.

During the time, it dawned on me that this was the cause of earthquake in somewhere. This is neither our building problem, nor our own delusional.

Geologist says the 5.8 earthquake’s epicenter was near Mineral, Virginia. "500km away from NYC". If 1 to 10, 9 is catastrophic , 5-7 is moderate to strong. Whereas, 5.8 is considers moderate or light.
